Why I don't do Black Friday!

I have only gone shopping one black Friday. A) because I've worked every Friday after Thanksgiving except one since I was 19 and B) the care bear incident.  I'm not particularly proud of the "care bear" incident well maybe slightly because I didn't allow a raunchy lady to push me around. It all started the year my Sister wanted a Grumpy Care Bear. I could not find one anywhere in any size so I had pretty much given up on that idea for a gift until I saw a giant Grumpy Bear sitting on a shelf that one crazy whirlwind Friday morning. I had gone up and grabbed the bear off the shelf when a crazy looney lady came up and slammed her cart into mine. I was a little caught off guard by her actions but then she grabbed the bear I was holding and tried to take it for herself. I became pissed beyond belief and it was on like Donkey Kong from that point. I pushed my cart back (not as hard) and I stood my ground and yanked that blue bear out of her grip and didn't let it go until it was paid for and in my Dad's van.  After that experience and the yearly news of violence and anger I have decided to stay home and sleep in. Not to mention I put in 13 years of black Friday retail work and one year of gift wrap I think I've experienced enough Holiday Gloom to last me a lifetime.

Little bit hurt...

When I was a kid my family and my cousin's family all got together for mini vacations and we played at family get together s. We were I guess you could say close as kids. We got older and our Grandparents passed away so we didn't see as much of each other as we used to. Then we started to get married, when I say we I mean of course my brothers and sisters and my cousins. I was single most of the time or I had a boyfriend that would rather not hang out with my family at all. So I watched as my siblings with their partners hung out with my cousins and theirs going out and doing game nights etc.  I was bummed because I was never invited but I was also not a "couple" so it wasn't that big of a deal. Now I'm in a committed relationship and have moved back to Utah from living briefly in New York. Now not being invited kind of stings! I see my sister and my cousins out and about on Facebook and I will admit my feelings do get hurt. Even seeing my friends with my siblings doing stuff that I wasn't invited to hurts too.  To sum it all up I guess being single most of your life has it's penalties.

The Joys of Renting.

The apartment complex that T and I live in currently is probably the most ass backwards place I have ever lived in. So in order for me to vent and get over it I've decided to list all the issues I have had with them since we moved in 6 months ago.
  1. every time we have a maintenance issue and go down to the office in person mind you to fill out a work order they tell us they have it in their system but we never see the maintenance guy. It takes for us to see him out and about to ask him to look at the problem.
  2. we live in gang territory but hey that one is really our problem I guess.
  3. The people in the office are not the brightest bulbs in the box! I went to see what amount of credit we had since we had been paying a few hundred extra on our rent. It took me 3 times to get the correct answer from the "manager".
  4. they print up flyers with important information that seems to be time sensitive with the date that they were drafted on the memo. However we don't get them until usually the day before something is due.
  5. annual inspections are mandatory and I understand that. But they pick a holiday weekend  and again see #4 to do them. A)people are out of town B) they have company staying with them. Oh and they pick a block of 3 days but can't give you any sort of time so they expect your pets to be locked up in kennels all day for up to three days. NICE!!!
  6. We were told that a full size washer dryer would fit. nope it doesn't!
  7. We were given a date to sign the papers and move in, however when we pulled into the complex that is when the office decided to call us and inform us that the cleaning crew did not show up the day before. Why not call us before we actually arrived to the complex?
  8. When we did get our keys we went into the apartment there was piles of crap in every room and we were also lied to because we were told that the carpet was to nasty so it would be new. Nope nasty carpet that still has stains that they could not clean out.  Oh and the people before us had dogs that shit all over the house so our dog thinks that is where he is supposed to go potty.
  9. The lights on the stairwells don't turn on until well after dark, they are also falling apart.

November Library Day

T and I go to the Library once a month and each pick out a handful of books.  Our Library lets you check out 30 books at a time which I always thought was silly however by the time T and I make our choices we end up with 15-20 books. I cannot pick one book and read that cover to cover, never have and I suspect I never will. So I pick a variety of books and yes I start all of them around the same time.  I tend to grab a biography, household how to, business growth books, and a tween book. I know I'm 35 and probably shouldn't be reading tween books but most of them are sooo addicting. Today I checked out the following books and will probably write about them in other blog posts or on my other blogs that I maintain.

Book List for November:
  • Boost your interview IQ
  • Martha Stewart's Handmade Holiday Crafts
  • Happy Chaos by Soleil Moon Frye
  • Any size, anywhere edible gardening
  • Facebook marketing for dummies
  • Twitter marketing for dummies
  • I'm dreaming of a green Christmas
  • Haunted hikes of North America
